SCHOLARSHIPS

The AP Academy has two scholarship funds for which students can apply from their second year of study. Unfortunately, scholarships cannot be granted to first-year students. Students should keep two things in mind regarding the scholarships:

  • The scholarships do not cover the total tuition fees.
  • Upon cessation of studies, all scholarship awards expire.

needs grant

These scholarships are administered by the Senate. If, for whatever reason, a student does not have the funds to study at the AP Academy, but in the opinion of the Senate and on the recommendation of the Faculty Board, nevertheless shows academic potential, the student can apply to the Scholarship Committee for a need scholarship for the payment of his/her tuition fees at the AP Academy. Such a student must provide the APA with a complete budget for the relevant study year, as well as reasons why the student cannot find the study money. The Senate judges on the merits of the case. These scholarships are awarded subject to the availability of funds. You can send an email to [email protected], for the attention of the Scholarship Committee.

The Senate of the AP Academy also administers further need-based scholarships from the APA Student Support Fund. Students who have successfully completed one or more academic years at the AP Academy may be eligible for a need-based scholarship. This scholarship is considered in consultation with the Faculty Councils of the AP Academy. Students must submit a complete report regarding their finances as well as their need. Students are expected to succeed and progress academically when considering a need-based scholarship.

Achievement Scholarships

These scholarships are administered by the Senate of the AP Academy. Students who have successfully completed one or more academic years at the AP Academy may be eligible for an achievement scholarship. This scholarship is considered in consultation with the Faculty Councils of the AP Academy in respect of students who distinguish themselves academically from other students. The minimum requirement to be eligible for such a scholarship is 75% average. Students enrolled full-time in a degree course at the AP Academy are eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship is awarded subject to the availability of funds.

These fees do not need to be repaid by a student, provided he/she successfully completes the year in question. Students who consider themselves eligible for these bursaries must send a fully completed application form to: The Registrar of the AP Academy, 430 Farenden Street, Clydesdale, 0002 or email: [email protected].

Loans to Theological students

The Willie Lubbe Theological study fund

Registered theological students as well as prospective theological students of the AP Academy can apply for a study loan from the Willie Lubbe Theological study fund. A complete loan application must reach the APA before/on 5 January of the year for which financial assistance is requested. Late applications cannot be considered. Further inquiries in relation to loans or bursaries to Theological students can be directed to the chairman of the Curatorium at:  [email protected]
