Diploma in Bible and Theology with Education

WHY STUDY A DIPLOMA IN BIBLE AND THEOLOGY WITH EDUCATION?
This program is designed to introduce students to key theological disciplines of Bible studies, Spiritual Leadership, Church History, Counselling and Christian Ministry. It provides students with a variety of theological courses and practical activities which equip them with fundamental interpretation and application of the bible. The Program is also designed for Christians seeking a foundation for informed participation in the local church, para-church ministries, and in the wider community focusing on faith, spirituality and Christianity, with various aspects of Education and Teaching to provide those interested in teaching as a career with invaluable insights and understanding of the profession.

WHO QUALIFIES TO ENROLL IN THIS DIPLOMA PROGRAMME?
The Diploma in Bible and Theology with Education programme at GTBC is open to all mature born-again Christian candidates who have a call to serve God. Applicants must have completed senior six, Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

Applicants with a certificate in Christian Ministry GTBC or its equivalent from any other recognized institutions, or our Extension Schools, may be considered for this programme.

WHAT IF I HAVE STUDIED IN ANOTHER INSTITUTION?
If you have studied in another College, GTBC may accept to transfer credits from those previous studies. GTBC reserves the right to assess, accept or reject credits at its own discretion.

NOTE: For official evaluation of other college credits, transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing college to GTBC’s Academic Dean.

HOW LONG DOES THE DIPLOMA IN BIBLE AND THEOLOGY WITH EDUCATION TAKE?
If you are a full time student, then it will take two years.

If you are a part-time student, then it may take from 2 to 4 years.

The academic year begins in the first week of February and ends in the first week of December. There are three 11-week Diploma terms per year, covering approximately February-March-April, June-July-August, and September-October-November.

DO I HAVE TO BE FULL TIME OR RESIDENTIAL?
Full Time students study in the morning, afternoon and in some evenings. It may not be convenient for some students to study this way.

Students can study part-time and arrange their own schedule in accordance with their needs.

They can do this by taking courses in the following specialized formats:

  • Evening School (5:30pm – 7:30pm)
  • Bite-Sized (intensive 1-week or 2-week courses)
  • Self-Study (i.e. “Study at home”) courses.

 

WHAT MUST I DO TO GRADUATE?

  • Earn at least 96 credits in coursework
  • Pass all of the 18 Required courses (54 credits)
  • Fulfill other requirements as laid down in the College prospectus

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

  1. For Full-Time students (either Residential or Non-residential):
    Registration/Tuition:

    UGX 800,000/= per term (Note: there are 3 terms per year.)

    Books:

    Will be loaned to the student (or student may purchase books if so desired, at an extra cost)

  2. For Part-Time students (i.e. Non-residential):

    UGX 15,000/= per term

    Tuition:

    UGX 33,000/= per credit hour

  3. For Full-time students sponsored by an international donor:

Diploma in Christian Ministry

WHY DO I STUDY A DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY?
The Diploma in Christian Ministry is primarily set up for part-time students. It has a requirement of 64 credit hours which means it can be completed in 2 years on a part-time basis.

WHO QUALIFIES TO DO A DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY?
The diploma in Christian Ministry programme at GTBC is open to all mature born-again Christian candidates who have a call to serve God. Applicants must have completed senior six, Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

Students pay as they go according to the courses they decide to take. There is NO residential program for the Diploma in ministry.

Diploma In Christian Counselling

WHY STUDY A DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN COUNSELING?
Diploma in Christian Counseling (DCC) gives you an in depth study of models and theories of counseling practice integrated with biblical principles for effective applications. The program will equip you with theoretical knowledge, how to apply practical counseling skills, how to be the most effective pastor or counselor you can be and how to provide helpful outreach to your church and community.

WHO QUALIFIES TO ENROLL IN THIS CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME?
Direct entry:
The minimum entry requirement for admission to the ordinary diploma program in Christian counseling (DCC) is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes obtained at the same sitting or Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with 1 principle pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Mature age entry:
For eligible students aged 25 and above, mature age examinations will be taken from an accredited center. Those who pass mature age entry examinations with 50% and above will be considered.

Certificate in Counseling Holders:
A student must have obtained a Certificate in Counseling, Psychology or other related field from a recognized institution whose entry requirements are in line with NCHE standards.

HOW DO I STUDY?
There are numerous ways a person can study for this program:

Full-Time: Residential/Non-Residential:
Full-time students study in the morning (8am-1pm), afternoon (2-5/5:30pm) and some evenings (5:00pm- 8:00pm) depending on the courses being offered.

Part-time:
Evening School Courses are taught from 5:00pm-8:30pm during working week nights. Students can do one course or may attend a different course each night of the week and end up doing 5 courses. The total number of weeks for the term for evening students may vary from 12 weeks to 16 weeks.

Duration of the Term:
Each term shall last have at least ten (10) weeks of teaching after which, an appropriate time of at least two weeks shall be allocated to revision and final examinations. The program duration is two years (six terms).

Certificate in Christian Ministry

WHY STUDY A CERTIFICATE
The Certificate in Christian Ministry is the basic essential award we offer in our curriculum. The curriculum is designed for both ordained and lay leaders on part-time and full-time non-resident basis. The course is designed for mature born-again Christian students who are seeking to do Christian leadership both in church and in their communities by relating issues in the Bible to their current contexts. Successful completion of this certificate could qualify a student for admission into the Diploma in Christian Ministry or Diploma in Theology programme.

WHO QUALIFIES TO ENROLL IN THIS CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME?
If you are a S.4 graduate (U.C.E) OR its equivalent from another institution you may apply. For all applicants, the pastor’s recommendation is a MUST.

WHAT IF I HAVE STUDIED IN ANOTHER INSTITUTION?
If you have studied in another College, GTBC may accept transfer of credits from those previous studies. GTBC reserves the right to assess, accept, or reject credits at its own discretion.

A student who qualifies for the award of a Certificate in Christian Ministry will normally take ONE year. The academic year begins the first week of February and ends the first week of December. There are three 11-week Diploma terms per year, covering approximately Feb-Mar-Apr, Jun-Jul-Aug, and Sep-Oct-Nov.

DO I HAVE TO BE FULL TIME OR RESIDENTIAL?
Full Time students study in the morning, afternoon and some evenings. It may not be convenient for some students to study this way.
Students can study part-time and arrange their own schedule in accordance with their needs.
They can do this by taking courses in the following specialized formats:

Leadership Excellence Application Program

LEAP (Leadership Excellence Application Program) is an intensive 4-week modular program that provides a holistic approach to training and sets individuals on a personal transformation journey for a fulfilling career. Participants go through a process of self-examination and discovery of individual purpose. LEAP was started on the philosophy that everybody is born a leader, but it is the responsibility of every leader to discover, develop and demonstrate his/her leadership capability.

The program explores the principles of excellent leadership through 4 progressive modules; Leading Self, Leading Teams, Leading Organizations and Leading the Future. By the end of the course, participants will be able to interweave their spiritual identity and character with their global mandate thereby fulfilling their God-given call.

Through the course you will be able to meet people like yourself who want to be the best leaders they possibly can by incorporating inclusive leadership into their everyday lives.

Who qualifies to do the leadership development program?
This intensive holiday based program is open to church ministers and leaders.
The course requires a candidate to be able to express and understand English language.

How do I study
The program will be taught during the normal school holidays from 8am to 4pm.
The period of study for an advanced certificate is 2 years and ordinary certificate is 1 year.

How much does it cost?
